Content Writing – Wisconsin

Content writing Wisconsin - what is content?Content Writing Wisconsin

Basically, content is copy or text that appears on your website.  You may have heard the saying “content is king.” Quality content is critical if you want your website to rank high with search engines. Of course, there are a number of other factors that come into play as well but you can’t overstate the value of solid copy on your pages.

Why content matters

Without going into too much boring depth on algorithms and the like, the reason content helps your site rank better can be summed up in one word: Keywords.

Keywords are what people type into their computer to find things like: “Bait shop in east Akron” or “who won the World Series in 2009” or "content writing Wisconsin".

For every website, there are many keywords that are relevant to that site and many combinations of those words that matter to the search engines.

For example: let’s say you have a landscaping company in Balsam Lake, Wisconsin…

To find you, someone might type “landscaping company Balsam Lake” into their search engine and press Enter.

Or they could look for “Balsam Lake WI landscaper

or “balsam lake landscaping

or “western Wisconsin landscape service

Maybe they’ve heard of you already. Maybe they got your name from a friend. So they type in your exact business name: “Frank’s Evergreen Landscaping”.

You get the idea. There are a lot of ways to find you and people will use a wide variety of those keywords in large variety of combinations. The more keywords you rank well for, the better your odds that someone will find you.

What we do for you

The first thing we do is make a list of keywords that we think will be the most frequently used to find whatever it is you do or sell. This may be a list of 25 words or a list of 100. Your input in this process is welcomed.

We then run an analysis to find out how your site is doing with these keywords, which pages are faring better than others, and what we need to to do start moving more pages up in the search rankings. We then determine which keywords we think are the most valuable to start writing copy for.

Here is the part that most people don’t realize...

This is kind of a big deal: For every keyword you would like your site to rank for, the search engines recommend that you provide at least 300 words of text associated with it. It is also recommended that you only use one keyword per page.

That’s a lot of copy and pages for every keyword and this is the part that you have to understand going in: This process takes time. It will take a long-term commitment by you to get sufficient copy written for every keyword you’d ultimately like to rank for.

However, that doesn’t mean you won’t see results quickly.

We frequently see pages taking big leaps in the search engine rankings once they have been optimized. We continue to add pages for keywords and modify existing pages slightly as things continue to grow. The search engines like fresh content and will trust a site less if it sits untouched for too long.

You can track your site's progress

Every month, we’ll provide you with easy-to-understand reporting that will show you which of your pages moved in the search engine rankings and which did not. We also tell you which pages we’ve optimized with copy that month so you can monitor those in the next few reports to track their progress.

Here’s something else you should know

The longer your site is online, the more QUALITY content you accumulate, and the more reliable backlinks you have to your pages, the more trustworthy your site is to the search engines. This will not only improve your rankings, it makes it more likely that you’ll remain high in the rankings and continue to move up.

This is how we do it

  • If you have a website now:

We go through it page by page and assign a keyword to each. We will do basic, technical things like adjust your meta descriptions, title tags, headings, alt tags to ensure that they contain the keyword. Much of this you can’t see when looking at the site but it will help to improve your “status” with the search engines.

Then, we will begin the process of writing 300 words of fresh copy for each page. The copy will contain the keyword where it should with the frequency it should have.

  • If you don’t have a website yet: We’ll build it. Then, see step 1.)

We can also add a blog

There are only so many pages on your site where you can add 300 words…A blog provides a vehicle for you to provide information to the public while also helping your page to rank by adding keyworded text to your site. It’s a two-for-one deal.
