3 Things You Probably Don’t Know About Google Adwords
We all want to know more about these Google Adwords. For the ones new to it, Adwords are the ads you see on the top and side of Google when you enter in a search. You will find companies fighting to get at the top of every search. However, there are certain things you need to keep in mind before getting started. This will not answer all your questions about Google Ad words, but it is a start.
1. The first three things: In the online world, there are three things that consumers do when searching online First they will research, then compare the products and lastly search with the intent to purchase. I used this exact procedure to purchase my new sheer stockings.
Research phase: While someone is in the researching mode, the person at first has no idea what he/she is exactly looking for. I started my search with “stockings.” In this process, I learnt that there are different types of stockings: bridal stockings: fishnet stockings, garter belt, garter hose, lace stockings, pantyhose, patterned stockings, etc. At this point, I still have no idea which brand to choose.
Comparison: After searching on the general keyword, my search gets more specific. I am reading reviews and often comparing at this stage.
- fishnet stockings vs garter belt
- Lace stockings by Dre review
- Stockings pricing
- Stockings alternative
However, it is not worth it that business owners buy these phrases. People using these phrases are just speculating a future purchase. If you still want to experiment, stop for a week and observe if your profits rise.
Specific Keywords:
You might never know, a customer may have his credit card lying next to the keyboard while searching. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary for you to come up with the right keywords. Most people will know what they want, but do not know where to find it. So, they will search using specific keywords.
Some guidelines to buyer’s keywords:
- color
- size
- make
- model
- brand name
For example, as I read reviews of stockings, I finally found the one I wanted. It was Ultra Sheer Nylon stockings by Hanes. I entered into the Google search results the phrase “Ultra Sheer by Hanes” as I was mentally prepared to purchase.
This is what I mean my buyer’s keywords. These are specific keywords about the product. If you can recognize these keywords, bid on them as they usually lead to conversions.
2. Use Dynamic keyword insertion – You can save time with dynamic keyword insertion. Rather than writing a lot of ads, you can shortcut the process by putting {keyword} in the ad. It can be used in a number of different places
- Headline
- Destination URL
- Description lines
- Display URL
For example, you have 1,000 keywords and you are in no mood to write 1,000 different ads. Add the {keyword} and your desired keywords will appear. In case your keyword does not fit, you can can set a default word. If your default word is “joy”, then you use the following:{keyword:joy}
3. CTR – The range of ad position for the first page of Google Search is not affected by CTR (click through rate). Neither does it affect quality. How is this possible? Google bolds the keyword that is being searched. If I search for “apple”, it will be in bold. Users see your ad and decide if it is relevant to them. The CTR will remain the same, regardless of the ad position. Make sure your title has keywords.
